Please describe the project specifications
A council-owned shade sail, originally fabricated by another supplier, had been in place for over 20 years and sustained severe storm damage. We were initially approached to provide a quote for its removal and repair.
Following consultation, it became clear that full replacement would be a more cost-effective and durable solution long term. The new canopy was upgraded to Serge Ferrari TX30 Type 2 fabric, offering improved performance and extended lifespan.
Installation presented logistical challenges, with access requiring a crane and man cage to reach the central mast and outer integrated support poles four stories above ground.
What is unique or complex about the project?
This project was driven by the opportunity to provide a long-term solution rather than a short-term repair. Advising the client toward replacement demonstrated a focus on value, durability, and performance.
What made this project unique was the combination of large-scale infrastructure, challenging installation conditions, and the upgrade to a high-performance architectural fabric. The coordination required for safe access and installation at height added an extra layer of complexity.
