Please describe the project specifications
This project involved designing and installing permanent cantilevered umbrellas over the Funko storefront, providing approximately 660 square feet of shade. The structure consists of four 12'x16' Hypar-shaped umbrellas supported by 8"x8" square columns. Due to limited footing locations and restrictions on support column placement, a cantilevered design was necessary to maximize shade coverage without interfering with foot traffic. The design carefully balanced the client’s shade goals, foundation possibilities, and pedestrian flow, resulting in an effective and visually appealing shade solution for the storefront area.
The main challenge was the limited ability to place support columns due to site constraints, which led to the innovative cantilevered umbrella design. This solution ensured optimal shade performance while preserving clear walkways and storefront visibility. The project stands out for addressing these restrictions creatively without compromising structural integrity or aesthetics.
The final installation photos showcase the successful outcome of this project, highlighting how well the cantilevered umbrellas integrate with the storefront environment and provide comfortable shade for customers and passersby.
