Please describe the project specifications

Customer wanted an enclosure with operable windows everywhere. Honestly this boat belongs in warm climate without an enclosure . Then of course I get to work for one of the top 5 lawyers in Los Angeles and he picks Tresco Linen canvas. Next time patterned canvas is “Not available”. We had to run new track top and bottom and build a little stainless bracket for the bottom center of the Venturi to support the Venturi and enclosure. He wanted the vertical parts of the front window to not be in front of his line of site when driving even though he had a captain and he wanted a small drivers window on side panel for parking.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The job came out nice and tight and clean with lots of visibility . It was another brand new design / idea with all new track and hardware. The steep angle from the hardtop to the Venturi rail was unpredictable. There was so much angle that it allowed the windows to want to sag more so it was tricky patterning to be able to not get and wrinkles or warping. Then you add a patterned fabric so we had seams in some of our window border parts which was tricky to get flat when sewing window pockets. We needed a stiff fabric strip in the middle of the 2 front windows so I used window material to give it structure while windows were open. When designing the operable windows I needed to take into consideration installing the hanging hardware around the retractable roof so the roof could be opened at the same time as all the windows to fully open the bridge and for all of them to have the right amount of overlap. Getting those bottom outside corners and the top of the front of the windows flat was tricky and took some additional fudging once windows were first installed
