Please describe the project specifications

SALT Landscape Architects and Abramson Architects approached Eide Industries, Inc. with the concept of a shade structure for the newly constructed Aaron Milken Center, part of the Stephen Wise Temple campus in Los Angeles. The initial vision was a custom-designed circular canopy as a focal point for the Nature Garden to provide sun protection and a peaceful gathering space for visitors and students alike.

Eide Industries was tasked with the design-refinement, engineering, and installation of the 20-foot diameter circular trellis standing 9 feet 6 inches tall. The shade structure features a tensioned mesh top cover, fabricated using flame-retardant White Serge Ferrari FT 381 Precontraint fabric. Engineered for 110 MPH wind loads, the canopy delivers is a sound structure with architectural elegance. The trellis exterior is finished with powder-coated metal cladding, installed by others, enhancing its weather resistance and visual appeal. The rounded steel frame includes integrated supports for a circular bench finished with wood cladding by others complimenting the natural garden.

This project showcases Eide Industries’ extensive experience and ability to produce customized architectural shade solutions that combine form, function, and innovation.
