Please describe the project specifications

This project is a very custom carport for an upscale home. The design blends well with the all of the architectural elements of the home. It is 12’-6” wide x 18’-6” in length. It features Natura fabric for the top of the carport and there are Awntex mesh side panels for the side walls.


What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The client wanted a unique and distinctively designed carport to cover his luxury car. It needed to protect his car against the elements. He also desired that it would work well with the architectural features of his home.


What is unique or complex about the project?

This custom carport was permitted and engineered according to the strict building codes in the area. The carport was fully welded and fabricated at the shop. The custom corner posts are made of 2” x 3” members to make a distinctive pattern. The entire lower framework was fabricated to be transported and installed in just one piece and so was the top portion of the carport. Side panels are made of mesh to provide protection from the elements. The back of the carport is open and the front of the carport is open, but can be closed off with a matching mesh retractable screen.


What were the results of the project?

The client is very pleased with his unique and distinctive custom carport. It protects his car from the intense sunlight, frequent rain of South Florida and matches the architecture of his home; which were his two major concerns.
