Please describe the project specifications

Eight custom 3-dimensional fabric shade sails designed to suspend from the restaurant walls and ceiling. Fabric sails are fabricated from Commercial 95 HDPE knit fabric. Mounting brackets and tensioned turnbuckles are all painted black. In addition, there are 4 custom radius frame and fabric panels for the restaurant bench area. The framework was fabricated from structural aluminum staple tube and ¼” bar stock. All framework welded and painted black. Fabric Commercial 95 HDPE knit fabric was stretched and stapled to the frame.


What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The owner of this new restaurant requested a bright colorful fabric art design to add flare and decoration to the inside dining area. This one of a kind, colorful twisted fabric artwork added to the delightful ambience for customers while dining.


What is unique or complex about the project?

The ceiling cavity was circular, each tie back point was unique and each fabric was twisted to produce a 3-dimensional effect. This required 3-D computer layout plans giving special attention to the fabric compensation process. The frame panels required many compound bends.


What were the results of the project?

The client was very pleased with the addition of this unique fabric art design in his new restaurant. The ceiling lights and window sunlight shining on the hanging fabric art is stunning, creating different hues as the sun moves during the day.
