Please describe the project specifications

There are a total of 9 areas covered with these multi piece shade panels supported across two buildings with pipe frames at the buildings and stainless steel cables spanning the buildings.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The client needed to shade it's customers from the sun at a very large outdoor shopping & entertainment center.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The most unique aspect of this project is the use of 3 different colors in 3 different types of fabrics. The designer wanted to have a distinct shadow effect on the ground, we accomplished this by using different materials with varying opaqueness. Because the panels are not true rectangles & the sewing pattern is very complex, it was a challenge to maintain the pattern on the skewed shape of the panels. This was all laid out on a computer then cut on our CNC cutting machine then sewn together with a narrow span double needle machine with Tenara thread.

What were the results of the project?

It was exactly what the client was looking for. These shades give much needed relief from the sun while waling through the center. You can also see in the photos the shadow pattern the shades cast onto the ground.
