Please describe the project specifications

The client approached the team with a charming old horse carriage, full of character, history, and stories… but well past its prime. The seats were cracked and worn, the canopy was failing, and time had taken its toll on what was once a proud centrepiece.
There was one small challenge… the carriage was tucked away in a remote part of the countryside, with no practical way of transporting it back to the workshop.
So, the workshop made the trip.
Loaded with sewing machines, tools, and materials, the team took to the road and set up on-site under the hot Hawke’s Bay sun. What followed was a full day of hands-on, on site restoration — carefully reupholstering the seating and rebuilding the canopy right there beside the carriage itself, bringing new life into every detail while respecting its original charm.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The new canopy, lined with rich red velvet, brings a sense of timeless elegance, while the eco-leather upholstered seating offers both durability and comfort for years to come. Every material was chosen to elevate the carriage without losing its heritage feel, a careful balance between old-world craftsmanship and modern performance.
Working on-site added another layer of uniqueness, with every stitch sewn in the very environment the carriage calls home. It wasn’t just built for the setting; it was built within it.
Now, “The Queen of Horse Carriages” stands ready for weddings, events, and special occasions, turning heads and telling its story wherever it goes.
And should royalty ever come calling… it would be more than ready for the ride.
