Please describe the project specifications

Custom fabricated freestanding gabled canopy measuring 26 feet wide x 5 feet high (including 8 inch box) x 42 feet projection. Canopy supported by ten 6”x6” steel posts. The fabric is Sattler Evolution Quite Gray. Two manual Curtains, one on the north side measuring 42 feet wide and the other on the west side 26 feet wide, made of Awntex Gray fabric. After installation, lights and fans were added by others.

The community college requested a large canopy for their expanded automotive and transportation center as commercial truck driving industry jobs are in high demand. The canopy is utilized for their CDL training programs and is located on their fleet truck parking lot which will offer unique outdoor learning opportunities. The curtains were fabricated and installed to help with shielding sunshine and protection for other weather elements.

The unique aspect of this Freestanding Structure is the sheer overall size which was required due to the function and location of the canopy. It was challenging to keep the curtains secured and free from damage due to the wind and stormy conditions.

St. Louis Community College students and company employees now have outdoor learning resources for training purposes in obtaining truck driving training for a CDL (Commercial Driver’s License).
