n collaboration with the Government of Jalisco, we developed a lightweight canopy system designed to efficiently cover outdoor courtyards across public schools, creating protected spaces for children through a simple, durable, and highly replicable solution.

A simple yet structurally efficient steel system, combined with simplified connections and an easy-to-install membrane, maximizes material efficiency and significantly improves the project’s economy. A light-gray membrane was selected to minimize maintenance and reduce the visual impact of dust and pollution, while custom graphics create a recognizable architectural identity across the program.

Conceived as a scalable prototype rather than a one-off structure, the system makes lightweight architecture economically accessible to schools throughout the state. Its combination of efficiency, affordability, ease of installation, and social impact has transformed the concept into a successful program designed for large-scale implementation.
