Please describe the project specifications

The client for this project needed flexible, travel-friendly solar fabric kits to help power Coldplay’s international world tour. We provided them with 70, 10 ft x 3.5 ft clip-on solar fabric panels. These solar fabric products are lightweight, flexible, can be folded up, and are easy to travel with. At each stop that the tour makes, the fabric panels can quickly be set-up in the sun during the day and are fully operational by showtime. The goal of the Coldplay: Music of The Spheres Tour is to be as sustainable and low-carbon as possible. Diesel generators are incredibly harmful to the environment and those that work around them at concert venues. The addition of these solar fabric kits reduces the harmful fumes that would otherwise be emitted by the use of diesel generators at each concert and is an essential component to the band’s sustainability efforts.

What is unique or complex about the project?

This was our first time providing custom solar fabric solutions for an application such as this. The products had to be large enough to generate enough electricity to power key elements to Coldplay’s performance, but lightweight and flexible enough to fold-up and travel. Each of these fabric kits are connected to one another and are easily set up in a variety of arena and stadium settings.
