Please describe the project specifications

Fabric Gable style free standing canopy with two headache bars measuring 24’ wide x 4’ high x 36’ projection with a 1’ box. Fabric is White Sattler Evolution with graphics on the front face, back face and both sides of the box. The client requested the canopy design to accelerate the flow of traffic through the drive thru. The two sectioned lanes under the canopy allow better traffic flow than a typical one lane wait line. The canopy will be utilized during peak hours to take orders from both drive thru lanes to help expedite the ordering process. When not at peak hours, the canopy will provide coverage protection for the vehicles entering the drive thru process. Slim Chickens added hanging monitors for customers to view the menu before getting to the ordering kiosk. In addition, lights were added under the canopy to help with visibility in the nighttime hours.

What is unique or complex about the project?

Late into the project the customer decided to adjust the post spacing to allow for a two-lane drive thru. The cantilever design allows for full car coverage in the first lane and driver side coverage on the second lane. Once it was decided that this change was necessary, we had to move quickly with altering the drawing and confirm that the changes also passed engineering. We adjusted our fabrication drawings and were still able to meet the customers expectation with installation date.
The manager is very happy with the canopy design. Slim Chickens can process more orders in a timely manner. The customers also benefits because the service time has been reduced due to the efficient drive thru design.
