Please describe the project specifications

The Santa Rita Residential Community, located in Mesa, Arizona, requested custom shade structures over six of its small residential parks. Conceptual designs were composed for each location, focusing on providing the best possible shade coverage. These six parks feature brightly colored shade sails that focused on providing quality shade for the residents that utilize these areas throughout the day and year.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The Arizona sun creates dangerous situations at playgrounds during our hot season, and these small recreation sites were over-exposed. Children would be forced to end their playtime and go home when the sun made the equipment too hot to touch. The local children used to playing at these sites were curiously observing the installation phase, and asked our technicians questions regarding to digging, the equipment, and when the fence would be down so they could play again. Seeing their faces as we opened the space with a bright shade sail providing a comfortable shadow and extending their play time was fulfilling to observe.
