Roederer Estate Winery was a rewarding challenge. The owners initially had their in-house staff attempt the design, and after several abandoned ideas, they brought the project to us. Together we worked through multiple iterations before arriving at a design that satisfied both their vision and our standards.

The owners were hesitant to shade the entire patio, hoping to conserve resources. Yet the space — a 60’ wide, symmetrical, double-peaked patio called for a balanced solution. Two mirror-image sails achieved that visual symmetry, but left much of the patio inadequately shaded. Adding a third sail beneath the pair solved the coverage problem.

This patio endures consistent high winds. Our design was further stabilzed with a deflection cable spanning the entire array. Bob went the extra mile in aesthetics and had the connection plate fabricated in polished stainless steel in the shape of their European coat of arms that can be seen from each end.
