Please describe the project specifications

Introducing the vibrant and functional shade sail structure at the Phoenix Zoo's new African Cats exhibit, featuring an impressive array of 51 steel columns and 18 brightly colored shade sails. The client envisioned a dual-purpose solution: providing ample shade for both the magnificent African cats and the zoo’s visitors, while also supporting the necessary enclosure netting. Their goal was to create an inviting, comfortable environment that enhances the visitor experience and ensures the well-being and safety of the animals.

During the project, challenges such as the harsh Arizona climate and the need for durable, sustainable materials were addressed. The solution involved the use of high-quality, UV-resistant fabrics and robust steel supports, specifically designed to withstand extreme weather conditions and support the enclosure netting. The completed structure not only delivers exceptional shade coverage but also adds a vibrant aesthetic to the exhibit, attracting more visitors. Additionally, the eco-friendly materials used contribute to the zoo's sustainability initiatives, reducing the heat island effect and promoting a cooler microclimate. This project underscores a harmonious blend of functionality, design, and environmental consciousness, enhancing the zoo's commitment to conservation and visitor satisfaction.
