The Retractable Structures division of Eide Industries, Inc. was contacted by HKS Architects to build a motorized fabric canopy system to compliment and expand the outdoor dining area for the Lemon Grove Restaurant in the heart of Hollywood, California. Located on the rooftop of The Aster, a private members club and boutique hotel, the Lemon Grove is open-to-public with reservations and features spectacular views of the iconic Capitol Records Building and world famous Hollywood Sign.

We designed and fabricated the 47′-7″ wide x 30′-0″ projection x 11′-4″ high structural steel frame engineered to withstand 94 MPH wind loads. The canopy structure includes four 12-foot wide bays designed to accommodate the top cover’s retracting and tensioning systems. Four Corradi Impact motorized units were specified with flame-retardant Serge Ferrari Soltis Proof W96 fabric membranes to provide a total shade coverage area of 1,420 square feet.

Our end-to-end design-build capabilities allowed us the speed and flexibility to successfully manufacture and install the Retractable Fabric Canopy System for this rooftop hotspot allowing everyone to enjoy a bit of the glamorous Hollywood history, views, lifestyle and passion.
