Please describe the project specifications

This is a new model being brought into the USA market. The boat is specifically being developed for a cruising couple and the builder was looking for a way to provide shade on the bow area where the customer could put a couple of chairs and relax while shaded from the heat. They also needed a unique way to attach sunfly poles to and existing handrail and yet allow them to be removed when under way. We developed a unique set of fittings that can be clamped to various sized rails in both a horizon and vertical clamping system. The second challenge was to create a shade that attached to the pilot house but had to be taller and wider than the pilot house. We accomplished this by creating custom receivers and short carbon fiber poles to raise the height and then add mid outboard poles to get the shade out to full beam. The customer was extremely happy with the results and the design is now a factory option for this model.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The customers requirements created various challenges and provided an opportunity to develop an easy rigging system for future clients. The clamp on fittings has allowed us to develop a system for attaching our carbon fiber poles that is being used on many customers boats now. The system allows us to change just the delrin clamp blocks to make the fittings clamp to any tube from 3/4" diameter to 2" diameter. Our roof top fitting allows use to now provide a desired height that might not be conducive to the boat itself.
