Please describe the project specifications

The client wanted to modernize their 1999 Sea Ray 340 Sundancer with all new cockpit upholstery and flooring. The requests were that the primary material be white, with navy and gray accents. They did not want a typical vinyl, so we steered them to the Morbern Sundance and Spradling Silvertex products. They wanted some sort of decorative stitching but did not want diamonds, so we went with the hexagon pattern that was stitched by Vic's Upholstery Supply on the Morbern Sundance material. Since the seat backs were previously smooth, we determined the best location to section them to fit the hexagon panels in where appropriate. The larger seat back in the aft section originally contained a pull-down, which we removed and reshaped to fit the new design. The seat bottoms were made completely from scratch and used new foam that was cut and shaped to form the U-shaped knee lifts in the aft seating area. All of the white on the seats and navy blue material used on the side panels is Morbern Sundance, and the gray for the knee lifts is Spradling Silvertex. The Sandbar Soltice flooring with navy binding was the perfect match for this project to bring the whole look together. We had a lot of fun on this project and the clients were ecstatic with the final product.

What is unique or complex about the project?

We received a lot of positive feedback on this project, including many people telling us that we need to submit this for an award. This is our third year of business and we feel that we have really hit our stride with upholstery work. The colors, textures and the hexagon pattern on this really look great and the whole boat really pops. A lot of work went into this project and the happiness of our clients told us that it was worth the effort. While I think this was our best work from the past year, we are going to submit two additional upholstery projects for consideration.
