Please describe the project specifications

La Posada at Park Centre is a developing residential community in Southern Arizona. The community park features an outdoor stage area for community celebrations, live music and presentations, amongst other activities. We were asked to assist in creating a beautifully shaded stage area with a retractable system that could be pulled closed and provide functional shade during events, and left open during times of inactivity. The structure was to be fitted with options for lighting, audio, and other electrical features.

What is unique or complex about the project?

This retractable system was designed with luxury amenities that truly enhance the user experience. This structure has integrated LED lighting which can be programmed for light shows during events. Speakers were also integrated into the structure. This structure also came with its own set of challenges during installation, as this portion wasn’t properly designed prior to contract. As this was a square, framed structure, there wasn’t much flexibility in footing locations, and footings were retrofitted under concrete benches and around existing utilities. The challenge of building a structure that isn’t our forte, combined with an overall end-user experience, really drove this project to success.
