Right off of Public Square in downtown Cleveland, Il Venetian is a premier dining experience that was looking to create a protected outdoor dining oasis. Seeking something that would provide both sun and rain protection for the warmer months, we customized the Kubo product from Corradi. The two units combine to cover the 48'w x 15'p footprint.

Design was a key priority in this project. The overall height of the units were raised to allow for the visual clearance from within the building, which sits about 5' higher. Additional posts were added to mirror the building columns between the windows. This allowed us to fabricate the dual-layer panels to mount the blue Italian glass sconces that mirror the lighting inside the restaurant. The custom laser cut and powder coated panels also help to tie the exterior patio to the interior decorations, as the pattern is used extensively throughout the restaurant. The live garden planters help to create a garden atmosphere.

Four motorized drop screens were included to help provide privacy for the diners along with the strategically placed planters. By selecting a lighter colored fabric, patrons are able to see the cityscape, but are hidden from passersby, which adds to the ambiance. We also fabricated fan and heater brackets, powder coated to integrate with the units.

This is located at the base of the tallest building in Ohio, and everything had to be free-standing, with nothing attached to the facade. Located in a high-traffic area, the city required a non-permanent solution, though the structure is clearly permanent. Go figure. By applying a retractable product, it allowed for a lighter, much less structural presence, as it is just retracted for the snow.

The client has been very pleased with the outcome, and we continue to work with them on other restaurants.
