Please describe the project specifications
The objective of this project was to give shade to the skaters, since this square is dedicated to skateboarding, it is the municipality of San Pedro Garza Garcia in Nuevo Leon, in an area of medium-low socioeconomic level and the impact that this park would generate Skateboard, it would be for the recreation of children and young people who like to practice this sport, our final client is the city council of the municipality with another construction company, and the objective was only to cover with shade for the practitioners of this sport, at the beginning it was very simple shadows, which It was improved as the procedures progressed, of the last proposals that were generated were very simple structures that did not adapt to the nature of this extreme sport, so several proposals were being generated and in the end we were able to tie the proposal in the case of type meshes Hyperbolic paraboloids a resemblance to manta rays and resemblance to the mountain ranges of Nuevo Leon, this gave a unique and extreme style in the case of fantastic and large curvatures that give a unique impact to this park, even the tense structure cover gave it that magical touch and the perfect finish to differentiate itself from any skateboard park. In this project there were great challenges: the first was the execution time, since it was scheduled in 4 months, and the time had to be reduced to only 2 months, and another important challenge was working together with the construction of the ramps by the contractor, this last challenge was extremely difficult to intersperse the times of use of the cranes for the placement of the metallic structures and the tensioned meshes. It was an extremely amazing project that gave this park an image, and an impact, of social sense, harmony and that this healthy sport can coexist.
What is unique or complex about the project?
First of all, we are a team that like challenges, and we decided to enter this project because of the challenge it implied, from the logistics issue to delivery times, as well as making a difference and a social impact for skateboard athletes.
This project is and has been completely different from many that we have worked on, since from the shape of the structure, the inclinations of the arches, the position and combination of heights of the hyperbolic paraboloids are very different and make a perfect combination of dynamism and together with the ramps make it a park with covers and ramps perfect for practicing this sport. The combination of heights and position of the meshes make a perfect game of shadows that, seen in plan, looks like a flower, and with the oscillation of the wind they look like moving manta rays. It is simply unique.
