2 permanent umbrellas, measuring 14 feet by 14 feet, provide functional shade to a corporate warehouse patio utilized by employees on breaks. To add visual interest, entry heights on the structures varied, creating a layered effect.

What is unique or complex about the project?

Simple and individually free-standing umbrellas were constructed to provide shade over an outdoor break area for company staff. Visual interested was incorporated with different entry heights on these structures, which created a layered effect for the canopy. Meanwhile, the strategic placement of the layered canopies extended the quality of shade coverage throughout the day. Allowing a comfortable outdoor environment for employees to break from their duties has increased company morale and productivity.
