Please describe the project specifications

The Project
We are in Summer 2022. Events are slowly returning after COVID-19. This wedding was postponed, its venue at a high-end hotel being cancelled. The new plan is to set-up tents at the customer’s house in a beautiful lakeside setting located in cottage country, Quebec, Canada. One small detail, the customer doesn’t like standard white tents!

The Challenges
There are two main challenges to this installation. First, a customer who needs tents to create enough space to host the wedding but doesn’t like the look of white tents, finding them too commercial looking. Then an installation on a steep incline with beautiful landscaping that cannot be damaged, restricted both the available space and options for anchoring.
Discussing the look and feel of the event with the customer, a sailcloth was chosen for the ceremony tent. To create space for the cocktail, we would need to build an 18’ tall platform which would be a seamless continuation of the customer’s deck. In this instance, a structure tent was required to cover the area, so we customized a current product.
Customizations included:
• Custom width at 28’ and length at 48’ (4x 12’ bays) to fit the space
• Custom tops using Ferrari 502 Satin, a more natural beige color
• Custom side walls using Ferrari Soltis 86 Sandy beige, recreating the look of a patio’s outdoor blinds, while allowing excellent views of the bucolic setting
• Custom tent liner, digitally printed onto Fisher Textiles GF4417 knit fabric. The print design was inspired by a project done in the Bahamas, the darker lines based on a photo created a pattern reminiscent of a sailcloth
• Custom wooden capping of all apparent frame including uprights and arch eave

The configuration of the lot near the lake with the beautiful landscaping including large trees, stone retaining walls and rock gardens required an extremely precise planning process for the placement of the tents and scaffold, as well as their anchoring. From exactly where the sailcloth tent’s guy-outs would need to be anchored (complicated with this tent being installed on an elevated floor) to multiples techniques to anchor the tent on the scaffold (including scaffold itself being anchored where possible and water barrels hanging under the floor in custom-made baskets), nothing was left to chance.

The Result
Our company precisely measured the property and offered a solution allowing for the wedding to happen at this magnificent location, with a beautiful, customized structure.
