Please describe the project specifications
Our company was asked to provide a series of canopies to support logistic solutions at a large warehousing complex in Minnesota. The project required an extremely fast schedule with a customized designed mono slope canopy system that could withstand the high ground snow loads, and also meet the extremely high drift loads that impact the mono slope roof system.
The client required customized truss spacing and to have the column system align with the ramp and dock systems that were integrated.
There were high rise door systems that had to be accommodated and the heights became a greater engineering challenge when combined with the drift load potential.
We provided multiple canopies to support the challenge, including the 21' W x 60' long x 22' tall system pictured. The project included customized anchorage integrated with the docks and ramps and the back wall includes a textile gutter used to drain water.
What is unique or complex about the project?
This project was one of many canopies projects undertaken by our company.
This project had the largest snow loading and drift loading requirements and was done in 3 phases of build.
The membrane gutter was designed to be further away from the wall system than previous and was done to accommodate the higher drift loads forecasted on this structure.
The project was designed to meet all IBC code requirements and exceeds the customers expectations!
