The client requested a shade structure for a school over an upper deck to provide sun protection and enhance the outdoor space. Building on a second floor without options for footings posed challenges regarding structural integrity and stability, requiring innovative solutions. Through creative attachment methods, we installed two columns and 6 wall brackets to support three large shade sails, creating a structure approximately 40'x80'. By selecting durable, low-maintenance materials, the team ensured minimal environmental impact and long-term sustainability. The outcome successfully met the client's goals, offering a comfortable shaded area for students and staff, contributing to a healthier outdoor environment for the school community.
