Please describe the project specifications
A local Ice cream manufacturer's lease was set to expire after 99 years at the same site. The local council were very keen to help out and find them a great new location in time for the upcoming summer. The idea of using containers to sell from in a permanent setting at the the other end of town was agreed upon and a plan put in place. We were contacted to come up with a concept to cover the majority of the paved area with shade working around the containers and gardens when positioning poles. The colour scheme was to match the companys traditional colours (cream and dark green).
What is unique or complex about the project?
The project was a on a very tight time frame and a lot of consulting on site about where and when things were going to be implemented took place to ensure that all aspects of the development went smoothly. The poles had to be placed to work around containers, paved edges and planter boxes, all of which were not on site when we were to get poles set in the ground. Despite the weather turning the site into quite the mud pit when we were pouring concrete for pole foundations. We got the poles in the ground and the other teams got the containers in, the top paving concrete sorted and the planter boxes in, all seemingly far too effectively. Once the poles were in, measurements were taken, and the shades made while all other contractors finished their bits and pieces. 2 days before opening, we were in to install shade sails. From the first day shovels hit the ground to completion of the whole project was 23 days (original schedule of works showed 19 days, however there was a hold up due to some weather), in that time the place was turned from and empty grass space into a bustling new home for a historic local business to continue serving the public. We wer glad to be a part of this project and happy to say that it was a great success.
