Please describe the project specifications

The client and investment fund working along with a contractor requested a waterproof, free-standing retractable roof pergola to use as a leasing office for an apartment complex in Seattle, Washington. The project included using 6063 aluminum framing and beams along with Ferrari 302 fire retardant fabric, a Somfy RTS motor, and remote control. Frame color was chosen to coordinate with the existing apartment building that surrounds the leasing office. Our customer also requested that rain drains only to one side – the side where the parking lot is located.

What is unique or complex about the project?

Seattle, WA receives a lot of light precipitation. To satisfy the need for a waterproof (not water-resistant) product this retractable pergola was a simple but the best solution. Even though the pergola is a standard design it serves a tremendous purpose – keeping tenants and potential tenants and staff out of the rain and summer sun!
