Please describe the project specifications

This project was presented to us as a 20' x 35' steel pergola adjacent to the Shade Sail structure we had previously installed.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The purpose of this project was to add retractable shade panels to the pergola for a more formal sitting area for events and gatherings. The Client requested that we design the panel widths, section depths and drapes appropriate to long table seating.

What is unique or complex about the project?

This project was pretty straight forward. One complexity was the stipulation that the bottom of the canopy not to breach the bottom of the steel structure. Balancing the panel size, weight, and cable deflection with the depth of the drape was a challenge.

What were the results of the project?

The Client is very happy. The shade from the retractable panels coupled with the adjacent shade sails has created an eclectic yet highly effective shaded environment for their visitors. This project has yielded one job and numerous referrals.
