Please describe the project specifications

World-famous Aloha Tower Marketplace was revitalized when Hawaii Pacific University and the local favorite Old Spaghetti Factory moved in as new tenants. During an extensive facelift and renovation project, we were asked to rebrand the facade and create a large, inviting, and functional outdoor canopy to compliment the Victorian-style ambiance.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

A massive, 54' wide by 32' projection canopy accentuates an outdoor eating space required to seat the restaurant's endless demand. Along with a gorgeous back-lit entrance awning and multiple recovers for existing awnings, Old Spaghetti Factory needed to create an atmosphere that reflected the restaurant's long-standing history in our state.

What is unique or complex about the project?

This was an extensive renovation, including not only the massive cable-tensioned canopy but also a total facelift of the building, inside and out. The most unique characteristic is the bright, Poppy-red color choice that welcomes locals and visitors alike.

What were the results of the project?

This large canopy is both a revenue-generating machine as well as an iconic addition to one of Hawaii's most famous landmark. When Ward Warehouse closed in 2018, many Kama'iana feared losing the historic Old Spaghetti Factory but were happy to learn they were relocating to a better location while preserving their historic ambiance. It was an honor to be involved and trusted in this project to design, manufacture and install needed coverage for another great customer.
