Please describe the project specifications

The scope of this project was to create seven (7) commercial wash bay partitions. The structures included twenty-four (24) galvanized vertical columns and fifteen (15) vertical panels.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The purpose of this project was to provide the client with separate wash bays for small and large city vehicles. The vertical panels were designed to prevent overspray from one wash bay to the other.

What is unique or complex about the project?

This project is rare to us because the design intent was not to provide shade, rather create spaces delineated by vertical fabric panels solely for functional purposes. All steel was required to be galvanized to prevent rust. All tensioned panels were required to have minimal arcs on the sides and bottom of each panel, as large open gaps would present opportunities for overspray.

What were the results of the project?

The City of Mesa is pleased to have a functional space where city vehicles, such as garbage trucks, can properly clean their vehicles after their routes. The wash bays have proved functional since the facility’s opening in February 2019.
