Please describe the project specifications

As a worldwide exclusive, St. Moritz has hosted five alpine ski world championships: the unique alpine surroundings of the Engadin featured the world´s top athletes competing for medals and honors 1934, 1948, 1974, 2003 and 2017.
The Ladies Audi FIS Ski World Cup takes place every year in St. Moritz, Switzerland, since 1998 and the event has become a classic within the race schedule of the ladies. Within the last few years the races have become a highlight in the annual calendar of the Ladies FIS Ski World Cup. And the winning boards bear the names of many an illustrious ski star: Tina Maze, Lindsey Vonn, Tina Weirather, Lara Gut and Maria Riesch to name the most famous. In 2018 the World Cup took place from 8. to 9. December. The original women's World Championship slope Engadina allows a sports event consisting of Alpine combination and a Super-G.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The client requested a landscape of tents for different uses: We built the complete VIP Hospitality zone, a big public area, the Media area (with a size of 5 m x 30 m) and the House of Fans. The entrance tent, 9 m x 18 m, the public tent (8 m x 18 m) and the VIP / Club tent with an area of 20 m x 35 m, were installed directly at the edge of the mountain. The fabrics in the opaque version ensured that the interior of the tent did not heat up. With their big glass-facades the tents allowed a perfect view to the sports action.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The setting harbored some difficulties for the installation of the tents: the weather with cold & snow and the transportation of the material, because the access to the Salastrains area is narrow and steep. Interesting, but not very easy was the installation with the help of men of the Swiss military, who were not trained at setting up tents.

What were the results of the project?

The guests, fans and journalists enjoyed the event and had thereby a fantastic view over the sports activities. The organizers of the association were delighted, that it was possible, thanks to a sophisticated tent system and the right team with expertise, to present a fully equipped restaurant on the exposed location. Our installation team was very proud to be part of this spectacle and be able to realize such a challenging project to the satisfaction of the customer.
