Please describe the project specifications
Luxury Living Group, an Italian-based company and leader in high-end furniture, hired us to create a shade solution for its outdoor showroom in Miami. LL has ten directly managed showrooms situated in strategic locations: Milan, Paris, London, Miami, Los Angeles and New York among others. They selected our company to design a project that consisted of 7 tension sails over the rooftop terrace of their Miami showroom.
What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?
The purpose of this project was to provide shade for the showroom and to protect the luxury outdoor furniture from the sun's harmful rays. The client requested a shade solution using the existing walls.
What is unique or complex about the project?
This project was complex because of 2 issues that our designers had to work around with. The first issue was that there were no structural elements to attach the wall bracket to. Our structural engineer had to make adjustments and design unique brackets anchored to the back of the parapet wall in order to resolve the issue. The second issue was the conflict between the beam on the upper east wall and the sail curve due to the change of the wall design. Our design team had to work around this structural issue and make adjustments accordingly.
What were the results of the project?
The outdoor showroom achieved the elegant, modern, and high-end look that the client desired while also fusing effortlessly with the existing architecture. It also provided a substantial amount of shade to protect the customers and the furniture from the sun's rays.
