Please describe the project specifications

The canopy located in Longgang forest as a landmark in Tao Yuan City with the 1,410sqm of surface area and the three-cone and four-inverted-cone-shaped structure covered by PTFE fiberglass membrane. It’s really a stylish and amazing masterpiece.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

In recent years, more and more citizens enjoy going to the Longgang forest park, the municipal government would like to expand this park to best meet the public needs. After the expansion of the Longgang park to meet the growing needs for arts, gathering, public speaking and entertainment in the region.
In order to build not only a fashion and eye-catching building but also an iconic of the city, the client invited Covertex to explore a tensile cladding.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The most complex part of this project is to achieve the original concept of architect through precise design process of cutting patterns and excellent installation works. This requires our engineers to take in to account the properties of PTFE materials, and the material deformation during fabrication.

What were the results of the project?

At the end of last year, the canopy has been installed. The lightweight membrane provides a cost-effective solution requiring less structural steel to support the canopy, enabling long spans of column-free space. In addition, membrane offers the building owners reduced construction costs and maintenance costs.
