Please describe the project specifications

The customer had purchased a Gulfstar 44 and was in the process of restoring it. This project included a large six-bow bimini, a rigid flybridge enclosure and a rigid aft deck enclosure.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The customer requested maximum visibility and optical clarity. He also requested having a light-colored, cleanable and waterproof fabric for the large bimini top and a contrasting dark blue for the enclosure. We utilized Herculite Riviera for the top and Captain Navy Sunbrella for the enclosure. Makrolon UV polycarbonate was used throughout the flybridge and aft deck creating beautiful lines and curves to give a clean, modern look to the boat. The entire project was sewn with PTFE thread.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The customer wanted a very large front windshield in Makrolon UV polycarbonate. To accommodate the Venturi windshield and the changing plane of the panel, this large panel required adding a seam which challenged both our equipment and our seamstress.

What were the results of the project?

The customer was extremely pleased with the design and functionality and has since asked us to do additional work on two other boats that he owns.
