Please describe the project specifications

Fabricate dodger, Bimini and connector using Sunbrella Captain's Navy and Lifetime Thread.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

Customer wanted a shade structure that would incorporate solar panels for a power source to keep the bilge pump running. The customer also wanted the dodger, and connector to be the same height as the Bimini.

What is unique or complex about the project?

Having the dodger the same height as the Bimini is unusual, as the dodger is usually lower. The taller dodger was designed so it would not look out of proportion.

An additional feature is the soft solar panels which are sewable. Zippers were sewn onto the solar panels and flaps with zippers were sewn on to the top of the Bimini which facilitates easy removal of the panels.

What were the results of the project?

The customer was pleased because we met all of their design requirements, they have extra head room under the shade structure as well as an appealing look that complimented the lines of the boat.
