Please describe the project specifications

Sands Cotai Central is an integrated resort on the Cotai Strip in Macau. ETFE Interior decoration ceiling as a part of Shakespeare hall refurbishment project of Sheraton Grand Hotel in Macao. Whilst the hotel was refurbished, it retained the architectural European court style of the past. Client expect ETFE digital fritting not only control light transmission but also provide the visual impact. The client came up with the concept of Golden Damask Fabric pattern. In order to match the embossed decoration around, clients have different light transmittance requirements for printed patterns, each petal has a different transmittance.

What is unique or complex about the project?

It’s not common for ETFE digital printing, because of its high self-cleaning performance. In order to meet client’s requirements, we cooperated printing company to make 3 layers printing design to create a unique aesthetic and gradations of light and shadow. The most significant challenge faced by engineering team was printing graphics processing, our engineering need process three layers pattern according to client’s requirement and transform pattern shape according to the final form finding result.
