Please describe the project specifications

35 foot, 2002 Donzi Zf replace cracked and tired external upholstery.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

For a couple of years, before our client purchase it, this Donzi Zf had been neglected and exposed to the elements. The upholstery looked, pretty rough. The previous owner had replaced all the cushions with flat white vinyl masking the distinctive Donzi Zf designs. Its’ new owner wanted to modernize the look but stay within the confines of the hull colors for sentimental reasons.

What is unique or complex about the project?

Because the old vinyl had shrunk so much it was impossible to use any pieces as patterns. So we repatterned everything. The console seating and aft seating needed snap so we added a knee roll to the cushions and two diagonal stripes to the back rests corresponding to the customers wishes. Matching the colors of the hull was interesting, apparently the colors preferred in 2002 are not in demand so much anymore. (In other words, we were scrambling to find the colors to match.) We loved the cloth-like texture of the Silvertex and choose Champagne, the green was a little more difficult but Infinity had both the White and Green we needed.

What were the results of the project?

To quote the client exactly: “Baller!!! Love ‘em!! I am ready to ride out em in!!!” Please pardon our ignorance but we think this means, ‘I think it’s AWESOME!’ We were also very pleased with the clean, fine finished look of the upholstery.
