Please describe the project specifications

This project consisted of re-upholstering the entire interior of the boat. This was a large job including: one large sofa, love seat with ottoman, and a double cockpit captain seat with raised knee rolls. This project had roughly 28 pieces in total that had a lot of detailed sewing using French seams, pull strips, and straight stitching. The customer also requested to have the Sea Ray logos put back on his captain seat in which we used a local shop in town that we have to help us do this part of our projects.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The customer had purchased this boat used and they wanted to make it their own. They selected a new fabric which is an ultra leather fabric that has a cool touch and very soft for seating. We also had to replace nearly half of the foam on this job.

What is unique or complex about the project?

Some of the challenging parts on this job was removing and installing the seating area. This boat came from salt water and even though this is interior upholstery, some of the elements still got into the cabin and cockpit and caused for a lot of corrosion on the screws and fasteners to remove from the boat. Also, there was a lot of detailed stitch-work using French seams. Trying to get everything to lineup perfect with sew-in foam was definitely a challenge with all of the installation.

What were the results of the project?

The customer on this job was very happy with the work that we completed for them. This winter while the boat is inside for storage we are going to be building a small little sunshade on the back end of the boat and we will also be building a front window cover to help protect UV from entering the interior cockpit. New-found customer for life!
