Please describe the project specifications

We were asked to design, engineer and build an internal 'sail' acoustic ceiling under an existing 'conventional' aquatic centre buildings roof.
The architect wanted the Serge Ferrari Silcord tensioning method to be visible along side the Glulam frames, giving a traditional 'sail' look and feel to the suspended ceiling.

What is unique or complex about the project?

We entered this project as there was complex geometry that we had to ensure was accurate before starting on the fabrication of the 18 PVC acoustic panels. There was also alot of R&D required in order to come up with the custom hook connection system, that worked along side the Serge Ferrari Alphalia AW and Silcord.(standard grades of stainless steel cannot be used in pool ceiling environments) There were about 8,000 custom hooks sourced from a mill in China, procured just for this project.
