Please describe the project specifications

This was a new boat build and required us to make all of the seating, squabs,& headboards. The helm seats were supplied but required stripping, foam modifications and custom upholstery .
We were provided with computer cut base boards for the seating , squabs, and headboards. These needed to be assembled, test fitted and altered to suit before foam and upholstery.
Being a high end launch build a top custom finish was required. The customer wanted lots of sewn detail in a contrasting thread colour. We used two densities of foam stacked to enhance comfort where possible.
As this was just one of a few boats this company had orders for there were strict time restrictions we needed to work to.

What is unique or complex about the project?

This project had a lot of extra details with some good colours and nice fabrics. Contrasting top stitching requires very accurate sewing especially on French seams & highly visible areas. The customer had specified diamond quilting in contrasting thread for all the seating and this made the wheelhouse saloon/u seat a real challenge. When you add a lot of sewing to a foam backed panel it pulls in and affects the dimensional stability under tension. As the u seat back rest has an internal radius in each corner we needed to have nice even tension to keep the curve smooth and taught. Also any distortion or stretch would show as a difference in diamond panel sizes between the base and the backrest. Time pressure can often make a project more difficult especially given that such a high standard was required.
The customer was delighted with this boat and they have used it for sales and marketing photos to sell other high end boats.
