Please describe the project specifications

The Borgward Isabella is an old 1950’s German coupe.
The customer requested a complete interior retrim including seats with new foam, all new door cards ( including shaping and polishing new mouldings) , new carpets, new dash pad and headliner.
The customer wanted black and white but was unsure of how much contrasting detail to add. We sewed some small sample panels and he settled on the bold white stitched quilting with black piping/ welting. The customer also requested deleting the springs from the seat bases for a quieter more modern ride

What is unique or complex about the project?

The customer is delighted with his new interior and has had lots of great comments from his friends and family. These cars were hand made in relatively small numbers and we found many parts to be different between the left and right side which presented a challenge to make everything fit right and look correct once installed. We redesigned arm rest pads to look nicer than the flat factory ones. The original stainless steel door trim mouldings were badly dented and scratched so we formed new ones from aluminium, drilled tapped and polished them. The customer wants to retain the original style door trim pockets but without so much pleating.
We are very pleased with the quality and comfort of this interior and the bold white quilted inserts turned out fantastic.
