Please describe the project specifications
Our company was contacted by an architect located on the gorgeous island of Jersey, located between England and France. The project was for a private mansion on the island of Jersey. An addition in the form of a renovation to the mansion was being completed. Along with the renovation, the client wanted an outdoor area enclosed with a waterproof retractable roof system with sliding glass doors to entertain guests year-round by using air conditioning in the summer and indoor heat in the winter.
The main goal as stated by the architect was to provide rain protection along with shade protection from harmful UV rays while maintaining the client's view of the outstanding Channel Islands.
All extrusions and components used were corrosion-free aluminum and marine-grade stainless steel.
What is unique or complex about the project?
What made the project unique was the fact that the client wanted the retractable waterproof pergola to attach to a custom rectangular structure they were having built locally by a contractor. Therefore, our final fabrication metric dimensions had to be exact…….and they were. The contractor was responsible for building invisible downspouts to drain rainwater away from the structure.
According to the local contractor, “the installation was simple and smooth and the homeowner is joyous with the results”.
