Please describe the project specifications

Residential home in a windy part of Denver, Colorado.
Retractable motorized waterproof (not water resistant/water repellent) pergola cover.
Wall mounted with front posts.
Internal and invisible front gutter and downspout water drainage from the bottom of all posts.
Stainless steel water drain spouts at the bottom of each post.
All 6063 Qualicoat powder coated aluminum frame in RAL color 9011 Graphite Black to match customers existing window frame and railing colors.
Ferrari 6002 Stam light filtering opaque fabric.
Hood (cover) in the rear to prevent rain, snow, bird droppings and leaves from landing in the folds of fabric when not extended.
Front retractable motorized guide wire screens.


What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The homeowner inquired about a product that would allow for sun, UV, glare and heat protection and most importantly heavy rain protection. In addition, our client wanted a light colored fabric that would filter light so that his patio was not dark during daylight hours and in addition asked for a product so they could see the stars at night. Based on these requests a retractable patio and deck pergola was the best choice.

Because the house faces west, the client also requested a product that would help keep out the afternoon sun, UV rays and glare from the patio. To accomplish the client's goal, 2 motorized retractable guide wire screens using a mesh fabric was a perfect choice.


What is unique or complex about the project?

Since this unique product from Europe is only available with 230v motors a converter was purchased and installed to convert 230v to 110v


What were the results of the project?

The client was delighted with the results. The retractable patio pergola cover system transformed the seating area for both day and night use and made it possible for the homeowner and guests to comfortably use the outdoor entertainment area consistently, 24/7, 365 with the exclusion of snow.
