Please describe the project specifications

This project was comprised of a cantilevered GORILLABrella (permanent umbrella) over a lounge area in the back patio of a private residence in Peoria, AZ. This structure is approximately 14 feet wide by 16 feet deep, offers a 10 foot opening height, and provides roughly 215 square feet of shade.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The client wanted shade for a custom lounge area in his residential back yard. He requested a sturdy, well-engineered structure that would provide functional shade for his cozy seating area around a modern gas fire pit.

What is unique or complex about the project?

This project is unique because our client wanted the shade structure to be multifunctional for day and nighttime gatherings. We installed an electrical sweep in the concrete footing and outlets in the column itself. Following installation, the client mounted a ceiling fan to the center of the cantilever arm, along with strings of globe lights to each extension arm of the umbrella.

What were the results of the project?

The homeowners were pleased with their new backyard shade structure, which provides functional shade during the day and ambient lighting in the evening. The structure is also unique in our portfolio, proving the versatility of the GORILLABrella design, and is a true conversation piece.
