Please describe the project specifications
Custom Fabric Atrium located at Jupiters Casino
What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?
To deliver a custom architecturally designed fabric atrium structure, incorporating multiple translucency to deliver fabric patterns that respond to artificial and natural lighting
What is unique or complex about the project?
Working with an existing structure engineered and supplied in the mid 80’s was always going to be a challenging and interesting project
Installed over 30 years ago, the details, engineering and fabrication required our team to deliver innovative solutions for items such as the fixing and perimeter details. The patterning of the fabric had to respond to improved modern technology and the introduction of multiple translucency fabric types to create an architectural design that responds to light levels.
A 24 hour venue, with full public access, was also a consideration.
The existing steel structure had endured more than 30 years of wear and tear, resulting in further replacement and repair to ensure a premium structure is now in place
What were the results of the project?
Jupiters Atrium is now a focal point for visitors to the Casino
The fabric architecture responds to the lighting ( both natural and artificial) creating a wonderful kaleidoscope of colour and translucency
